Athletes have now been profiting off their name, image and likeness or earning payment from a third party for use of their NIL since July 2021. There are college athletes who have earned as much as seven figures through NIL, though most have earned or are earning smaller sums. It’s worth noting that not all NIL deals have been tied to an athlete’s sport.
